This delicious dessert sandwiches pack a punch of flavour thanks to cream cheese mixed with cinnamon and icing sugar.
|1 Pkg||Dempster’s® Thin Sandwich Buns (8)|
|8 oz||(250 g) spreadable cream cheese|
|1/3 cup||(75 mL) icing sugar|
|1 tbsp||(15 mL) ground cinnamon|
|Icing sugar, for dusting|
Preheat grill to medium-high; grease grate well. Stir cream cheese with icing sugar and cinnamon until thoroughly combined.
Cut the top and bottom off each apple; save for another use. Remove the core from each apple and discard. Cut each apple into 8 rings, about 1/4-inch thick.
Place apple slices on grill and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side or until tender and golden. Spread cream cheese mixture evenly between bottom bun halves and top with two additional apple slices; cap with remaining bun half.
Grill sandwiches for 1 to 2 minutes per side or until bread is grill-marked and cream cheese is heated and soft. Slice in half, dust with icing sugar, and serve immediately.
If serving for less people, divide accordingly.
For an even sweeter sandwich, serve with warmed caramel sauce.
