About this Recipe

2 Tenderflake® Frozen Deep Dish Pie Shells, defrosted
3/4 cup (175 mL) Apple pie filling
1 Egg, lightly beaten
2 tbsp (30 mL) coarse sugar
Caramel sauce or dulce de leche

REMOVE pie shells from the foil pans and turn onto a lightly floured work surface. Gently press to flatten.

PREHEAT oven to 350°F (180°C).

PLACE apple pie filling into a blender or food processor and pulse until fairly smooth.

SPREAD pie filling over one of the pastries leaving a ½” (1.25 cm) border around the edge. Brush the edge lightly with egg wash and place the remaining pastry on top. Gently press the edges to secure. Brush the top of the pastry with egg wash and sprinkle with course sugar. Using a pizza cutter or a decorative edge roll cutter, cut pastry into ½” (1 cm) strips and cut into lengths of about 5” (12 cm). Place carefully onto a parchment paper lined baking tray and bake for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with caramel or dulce de leche for dipping.
