My mother's recipe.
My parents have had this almost every morning for 40 years.
I make this every month.
I keep it in a sealed glass jar -- stays fresh for up to two months (or thereabouts).
|6 cups||large flake oats|
|1 cup||wheat germ|
|1 cup||almonds, slivered|
|1 cup||pecans, chopped|
|1 cup||sunflower seeds, unsalted|
|0.5 cups||flax seeds|
|0.75 cups||canola oil|
|0.33 cups||brown sugar|
|0.25 cups||honey or maple syrup|
|1 cup||dried coconut|
|1 cup||pumpkin seeds, unsalted|
|0.5 cups||chia seeds|
Combine all dry ingredients in large bowl
Mix oil + honey/syrup + vanilla
Pour into dry ingredients - mix well to coat
Put on baking sheets
Bake at 250 degrees for ~1 hour. Stir once every ten minutes or so.
Turn off oven and leave in warm oven for a couple hours or until cool
Add dried fruit if you want at the end.
